Community Facilitation Team
Since 1999, Leadership Buffalo has worked to train a select
group of LB members to serve the Buffalo Niagara region as community
facilitators. The mission of the Leadership Buffalo Community Facilitation Team
is to empower, strengthen and serve the community through facilitating open
collaborative processes. The Team is dedicated to provide facilitation
assistance to Erie and Niagara County non-profit organizations, community
groups, and municipalities for the purposes of:
- Increasing their effectiveness
and productivity and assisting them in making better decisions for their
organizations and for the community at large;
- Helping them learn processes that
will make them more inclusive and efficient;
- Being a facilitation resource for
special projects and/or the public discussion of critical issues in the
community
- Conducting a long-term study on
the effectiveness of facilitated processes in organizational and community
planning and growth.
THE COMMUNITY
FACILITATION TEAM EXPERIENCE
LB Facilitators are highly trained in facilitation skills
and techniques. They display competence in the design and implementation of
organizational and public facilitation sessions, are able to involve disparate
groups, and are able to view the big picture and remain objective in the midst
of passionate public discourse. The Facilitators are especially skilled in
assisting groups to think outside the box and generate and prioritize ideas.
The LB Community Facilitation Team was honored by being selected by the
National Association for Community Leadership to present the concepts and
evolution of the Team at the 23rd annual leadership conference in St. Paul in
June 2003. Robert W. Miller, Jr., Community Facilitation Team 2003 chair,
presented the workshop and the "Abbreviated Strategic Planning Process" which
he developed and has been successfully used by the Team on numerous occasions.
