Workshop Summary:
Companies and their executives generally fall into three categories when it comes to a crisis. Some think a crisis won’t hit them, and they have no plan. Others had crises, were unprepared and suffered serious consequences. The third category, which attendees will hopefully fall into after this training, understands a crisis could hit any time and they are prepared.

Steve Bell, a former Buffalo News senior editor, has worked in crisis and reputation management for 20 years, helping clients including Rich Products, Highmark, ECMC, the Buffalo AKG, a multitude of schools, and dozens of non-profits. This session will provide the basics for crisis management, along with an emphasis on the values needed to limit reputational damage.

Light breakfast will be served.

Meet the Facilitator: Steve Bell

For 12 years at Eric Mower + Associates and Mower, I carved out a go-to public affairs practice, dealing with pressing issues like health care, racial equity, politics and economic development. I led Mower’s agencywide crisis and reputation management practice area, which included media, presentation and crisis training for clients such as BlueCross BlueShield, Modern Disposal, the Seneca Nation of Indians, and Rich Products. I also served as head of Mower’s 40-person Buffalo office for three years. In September 2018, I left the agency on excellent terms to embark on my own crisis and reputation management consultancy. Prior to my years at Mower, I worked for 20 years at The Buffalo News, in four senior editing positions. Prior to that, I wrote for the Associated Press
